My name is Sandy Peacock and I’m the author of this story. I’m a freelance writer who hangs around water a lot. My number 1 passion is sailing – everything from harbour racing and Sydney-Hobarts to cruising and windsurfing. I also row and kayak and am reasonably good at catching fish. I’m 56.

My wife Jillian (age unknown) is a manager at a website development company. Now that she’s given up triathlons she runs, walks, cycles, skis, swims at the beach, and sails if the weather’s not violent.

Our elder son Rohan is 17. His interests are surfing, dating, music, fishing, and anything to do with boats.

Our younger son Dylan is 12. He loves bodyboarding, skiing, Wii games, food, and sailing if there is food.

We live on Sydney’s northern beaches.
