More than 20 years after leaving the small seaside town of Streaky Bay as an eight year old, my wife and I headed over the other side of the Eyre Peninsula to visit. It hasn’t changed too much other than generally being tidied up – it could win a tidy town award if they still run them. After a year of work it was an ideal place to unwind. We went via Port Lincoln where we stayed for a few days (see my other stories on these destinations), and broke up the drive a bit by looking at some of...

Next stop was Port Lincoln on the tip of the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. Port Lincoln is famous for its bluefin tuna and home to a substantial fisheries industry. The trainer for three-time Melbourne Cup winner Makybe Diva comes from Port Lincoln and there is a bronze statue of Makybe on the park on the town's foreshore. Port Lincolner's must be good punters because apparently there are more millionaires per capita in Port Lincoln's postcode than any other postcode in Australia.     Lauren has a mate called Steve who has lived in Port Lincoln for 18...

Island beach run without the expense of barge fees. Bridge access to island, pick up beach permit from Bongaree Caravan Park & off you go. There's a couple of minor water crossings on the beach- watch them after heavy rain though as these can become deep and catch you off guard. War ruins at the northern end (don't forget the insect repellant) & inland track back to Welsby (closed during periods of heavy rain).

The local towns are great to look around, all having been some part of history. The Innes national park was spectacular, high cliffs, great surf beaches.. Would recommend the lower Yorke Peninsula for that quiet getaway.....Keith and Cheryl

As far as WA goes, i had never been North of Lancelin and decided it was time to explore a little more of my home state. Unfortunately we were restricted to only ten days but optimistically set off from Perth on a cold Monday morning, adamant we were going to experience a taste of what our north has to offer. Our first night was spent in Kalbarri, what a great little town, the inlet and views from red bluff really are worth taking...

Friday. Day 7.       Ok, two days to go. We’re heading back to the coast today, to do some surfing and fishing. The storm front that blew us off the beach earlier in the week has broken up. After leaving Goulburn we take a winding route through the Southern Highlands via Bundenoon, Moss Vale, Fitzroy Falls and the Kangaroo Valley. This would have to be one of the best drives in southern NSW. We come out at Berry and make our way to Seven Mile Beach....

Constantly looking for a new adventure and teamed-up with surf forecaster and meteorologist Ben Matson, the guys were on the search for the ultimate wave.      The wave they were searching for on this trip is located on the North Western tip of Tasmania at the entrance of Bass Strait, known only as Dangerous Banks.      Dangerous Banks had never been surfed before or even caught on...

I swear every time we went over a bridge or a causeway, Loz would see Crocodiles, heaps of them, I never saw a one. Stayed Narrabri a couple of days to checkout the aviation fly in, which to our disappointment was a non event. Had a nice uneventfull journey through Gilgandra, Wicannia. Stayed a night at Cobar , then through to Broken Hill.Visited Silverton, just north of Broken Hill. One more days trip to Adelaide from here, and we intend to stay here for 6 months , then head west.
