I know the saying about Queensland is a bit of a cliche "beautiful one day, perfect the next" but that has certainly been true this week at the Mitsubishi Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic. 26 degree temperatures and perfect fishing conditions have made this week's tournament a resounding success so far.      The great fishing has certainly continued over the last few days with some great catches being brought in.  The highlight for me so far has to be the 13kg Red Emperor from a bloke from Mackay...what a fish!!      Last night...

I have been fortunate enough to be at Rainbow Beach, about two hours north of Brisbane for the 14th annual Mitsubishi Rainbow Beach Family Fishing Classic. This year's event has attracted record numbers with over 1,000 people competing or just enjoying a family fishing holiday.      Whilst the event is a very relaxed and social tournament, the serious fisherman have been taking their 4WD's along the beach or jumping in their boat to try their luck along one of Australia's most picturesque coastlines!      As you can see with the attached pictures, a number of them have...

Not so long ago my husband Richard took my Pajero to a working bee at our local Baseball Club where our boys play, they were putting in a new playing diamond and hoping to get it ready before the start of the winter season. He was gone all day (which is nothing new as anyone who has gone to working bees knows), but when he got home I decovered that he had washed my 4WD at the local car wash before heading home.  I was taken aback and shocked as he had never offered let alone thought of doing something like this before. Next day...

Coral Bay, south   Friday saw us leave Coral Bay for Carnarvan, a big thank you to Kelly and Jeff for their great hospitality.   Entering Carnarvan we saw the first of many orchards, bananas, mango’s, vege gardens to name but a few, lovely lush and green. The caravan park seemed to cater well to the older set, still very comfortable, and still long walk to brush your teeth.   Once settled in, we ventured into Carnarvan township, very extensive, and we duly topped up our larder. We walked the one mile jetty, which unfortunately had a fire a few...

Wednesday. Day 5. Well, we’ve filled the Pajero up with sand and covered it in mud, and most of the time it’s been raining. But our next destination will be a lot drier. We’re heading south-west to the old gold rush town of Hill End. We’re not looking for gold dust, just dust. But before that we need coffee and diesel, so that’s what we do when we get to Scone, our first stop today. The boys check out the surf shop (yes, the surf shop) and we set up our route on the satnav. It’s a clear day. We look...

A two week trip. After coming back from along trip to the mountains in pakistan this was quite different in september this year (08). 2 mates, 2 bikes and a 4wd 05 patrol. We went to Kal, then laverton where we went on bikes and 4wd support to Ayers rock on the Great central Hwy. We saw Camels and sometimes woke up near them-or they near us! we then went Ayeres, Olgas and the Road back via Cooper pedy, then to ceduna and then Nullabor back to kal. Hi, we are a very lucky family of four Craig 28, Lara 29, Aimee 6 and Olivia 19mths, who are just about to embark on a working holiday around Australia. We have purchased our 4wd-2002 Hyundai Terracan, and our caravan 1983ish Roma and are preparing to depart in just 8 weeks. We are currently fitting out the van to suit our requirements and planning the first part of our trip. To start with we are going to pop down to Jindabyne and play in the snow. Then head west and see what's happening in the country and join...
