Saturday 17th July left Leighs place near Yeppoon to head to Mt Isa to meet our fellow travellers. Had spnt Friday with Leigh and Charlie and had a nice meal at their local resturant. Did a quick tour of Yeppoon and did some necessary shopping. Got about 100ks out of Rockhampton when we realised we had left our rump steak in Leigh's freezer. Oh well!! Just getting fuel in Blackwater when Leigh rings and tells us we have left van keys on his kitchen bench. Thank god or heads are attached!!! No probs as we can access van...

Anyway, well worth doing of you want to see untouched beautiful scenery, aborginal rock art which is rarely seen and abundant flora and forna well away from many torist travellers. High clearance vehicle recommended with 4wd a bonus. Also i would allow at least 3 days there...we spent 6 nights and I will go back again. Thanks Mark Sheen

Seems Mitsubishi Australia hid a problem with it's Pajeros. They have a soft crankshaft bolt, that stretches, resulting in pulley failure. Mine failed luckily at low speed and I lost my steering on a bend and collided with some trees. Ivé since repaired the car a few thousand dollars later, but since I can't trust it for much more than city work, Ive replaced it with a Toyota. Google SR-01-002 for information on this under engineered component and what you need to do. Good luck. I did love that car

By mid-October we were on our way! We have a blog that might be of interest to some of you. It's http://murraysontour.blogspot.com We added a camper tent to our off-road trailer to make life a little more comfortable, hitched it up to our Pajero and headed off. Sounds simple but....the preparations beforehand were unbelievable. The camping gear and 4WD were easy; we could have been packed...

For varying reasons, what we thought would be a 12 month trip has finished up a little shorter.  We have had 10 wonderful months of roaming with not too many cares & woes.  It has been great but is fast nearing an end and, as we work our way back through SA and into Victoria on our way home, we reflect on what has been a wonderful experience.     We have –            Marvelled at landscapes which are flat, treeless, gorges and yet more gorges, termite mounds, Australian Grass...

8th October               Arrived today in Kalbarri (also on the coast) having seen the much talked about and eagerly anticipated WA wildflowers today.  The drive from the highway into Kalbarri through the Kalbarri National Park was colourful and amazing.  We had been concerned that it may have been too late for us to see the wildflowers.  While here it was out into the National Park to see yet more gorges and the natural rock formation called “Nature’s Window”.  Unfortunately at this stage Rossco is all ‘gorged out’ and not really interested.     Spent 12th to 16th October in...

2nd October                Left Exmouth today and headed to Carnarvon, having spent a full week in this picturesque area.  The town is full of holiday makers (lots of families as this was the first week of WA school holidays as well as backpackers) and, with the Ningaloo Reef being just off the coast, scuba diving and snorkelling are favourite pastimes here.  By far the most fantastic experience during the week was a 4 hour whale watching tour which took us way off the coast for a wonderful day of ‘up close & personal encounters’ with literally hundreds of humpback whales. ...
